Careers at Confluence
If you like helping people, love being outdoors and being part of a supportive and dedicated community, Confluence has opportunities on its direct care staff teams. Working at Confluence is an avenue to explore careers in therapeutic services, experiential education, mental health, social work and agrarian living.
Confluence is seeking highly motivated Mentors integral to the Confluence program. At the direction of and working closely with state-licensed Doctoral and Master’s level clinicians, Mentors implement weekly therapeutic treatment plans for program participants. Mentors direct intentional group sessions and facilitate team building initiatives. They role-model, facilitate and participate in the daily routine of participants. Mentors lead backpacking, biking, canoeing, snowshoeing, backcountry camping, yoga, mindfulness, and gardening skills as they guide participants through the program. Most importantly, Mentors maintain the physical safety of each participant and an emotionally-safe group environment to foster the growth of and better the experience of participants.
Being a part of the team at Confluence is a unique experience. Mentors work closely over 8 consecutive days and 7 nights in teams of 3 to 4. As a team they problem solve, assign responsibilities and delegate tasks. Mentors are accountable to each other and support each other’s professional growth through intentional and caring feedback. Confluence values assertive communication, empathy and a genuine caring for the participant’s and program’s success.
