In addition to our intensive outpatient program, we also offer residential treatment for those who need a higher level of care and support. At Confluence Behavioral Health, our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a structured mental health treatment program designed for individuals who need more support than typical outpatient care can provide but do not require the 24-hour supervision of inpatient treatment. Our IOP involves several hours of therapy and support services multiple days per week, focusing on various therapeutic approaches, including individual therapy, group therapy and experiential interventions.

What’s Included in our IOP Program

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy in our IOP provides personalized attention and tailored therapeutic techniques, helping participants explore and address their specific mental health challenges, leading to deeper self-awareness and targeted strategies for recovery.

Group Therapy

Group therapy fosters a sense of community and shared understanding, allowing participants to gain support, learn from others’ experiences, and develop social skills in a collaborative environment. Social connections support long term recovery and build avenues towards wellness. Our program consists of 3 weekly groups, with the average length of stay being 12 weeks.

Experiential Activities

Experiential activities in offer participants opportunities for skill building and the time and space to develop competence and personal effectiveness in different areas of life. These activities promote emotional resilience and adaptability to new environments and people that may be challenging.

Duration of Care

Each participant engages with our IOP for differing amounts of time as is clinically indicated and until the reach treatment objectives they have outlined for themselves. Typical lengths of care is around 10-12 weeks.

Participants in the IOP program typically attend three group sessions per week of about three hours in length. Participants also engage with one session of individual therapy during each week.

We also facilitate work with families. Supporting participant support is crucial in mental health recovery as it provides encouragement, strengthens coping strategies, and creates an understanding environment reinforcing progress. We also collaborate with local professionals and providers such as psychiatrists and therapists.
