Stacey Fontaine-Stearns, LICSW

Primary Clinician
Stacey received an undergraduate degree in philosophy from Christendom College in Virginia and then a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work from Brescia University in Kentucky. A lifelong learner, Stacey is currently pursuing a PhD in Advanced Clinical Practice and Supervision through Walden University. She is also a Member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and brings these talents to her work at Confluence.

Her professional experience of nearly 20 years extends to program development, residential programs, outpatient therapy, child protective services, and school social work in the areas of substance use, trauma, and mental health from adolescents through adults. She is trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), certified as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Specialist (C-DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) within individual, family, and group settings. She is a certified specialist in ASD, Anxiety, and OCD. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Licensed MSW in the State of Vermont.

Stacey’s professional interests include understanding the impacts and research of nature-based interventions for young adults with mental health diagnoses coupled with the integration and adoption of evidence-based practices. Stacey approaches her work with a deep sense for the ethics of care and builds relationships based on trust while recognizing the dignity and worth of each individual.

In her freetime, Stacey can be found avidly researching and reading on topics related to the professional work she does. In other settings, she is found with her hands in the dirt of her garden, cultivating flowers and vegetables. Her personal wellness practice includes time well spent with her husband, daughters and dog London, as well as meditating and soaking up nature and the outdoors around Vermont and New Hampshire.
