Participant Centered Care

Confluence is a short-term, residential treatment program collaborating with young adults and their families to overcome mental health challenges and more successfully navigate the transition to adulthood. Confluence clinical programming confronts the psychological, emotional, relational and personal hurdles getting in the way of young adults leading rich and fulfilling lives. Confluence provides transformational experiences by addressing the whole person with an emphasis on mental health and well being

Participants at Confluence and their clinician collaboratively create individualized treatment plans developed to meet their specific mental health, emotional, relational or behavioral challenges. Additionally, participants develop emotional awareness, build distress tolerance strategies, experience and extend empathy, practice executive functioning skills and improve family relationships.

These new skills help participants see beyond their current challenges. Our clinical team focuses on creating growth mindsets where individuals explore positive change and facilitate their own development.

Evidence Based Treatment

Clinicians at Confluence employ a number of treatment interventions to create the space needed for change. Modalities include:

  • Attachment Theory

  • Relational-Cultural Therapy

  • Trauma-Informed Care

  • Contemplative and Meditative Practice

  • Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

  • Adventure-Based Counseling

Person Focused Process

We believe healing and true change happens in the context of relationships built on honesty, trust and a commitment to emotional safety. This supports a discovery and development of the self that leads to lasting change. Confluence is founded on a recognition that every person has the potential to improve the quality of their experience, but our belief is every young adult has the potential to move beyond that. We believe every person has the capacity to thrive.

Every experience and intervention at Confluence is intentionally designed to help participants feel safe in exploring their own treatment process. Our clinicians and staff bring compassionate care and a core belief in every participant's efficacy and determination to their work. We create a setting that appreciates the diversity of experience each participant brings to Confluence.

Confluence's clinical approach helps young adults balance the extremes pulling them away from their true selves. As such, our program is designed to span a wide array of experience - activity and rest, work and play, autonomy and connection - each in context to provide a precise blend of challenge and support. This model addresses the real-life challenges young adults face as they launch towards independence. The juxtapositions encourage participants to develop strategies that build adaptability, resilience and flexibility while fostering growth and needed change. Every aspects supports the search for balance in which participants develop a strong stable center
